Meet The Parish Staff
St. Francis of Assisi has a small group of paid and unpaid staff. Below are some of our key folks.
Fr. Gustavo Vidal
Pastor
Bio: Fr. Vidal is the 23rd pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Parish. A native of Columbia, he came to the U.S. in 1991 to study for the priesthood for the Diocese of Salt Lake City. Fr. Vidal attended Mt. Angel Seminary in Oregon and was ordained in June 1997. He comes to us from his previous assignment as Pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Haven.
Fr. Vidal likes to say that he is from Columbia, where they don't eat salsa, they dance salsa. Those who were here 19 years when Fr. Vidal was a parochial vicar will remember that he is a great dancer!
Father Rogelio Felix-Rosas
Parochial Vicar
Bio: Father Rogelio was born in Navojoa, Sonora, Mexico. He is the second of six and his parents are Rogelio y Piedad. He was ordained to the priesthood on January 29, 2005. He loves baseball, the number one sport in Sonora, and he also is a fan of soccer. He follows the Atlas de Guadalajara and Barcelona in Spain. He served in Park City, UT before being assigned to St. Francis of Assisi.
Janice Hauzen
Business Manager
Bio: Janice is a native of Utah. She has worked for St. Francis of Assisi for more than 15 years. She keeps track of every penny we spend and keeps us solvent. She also coordinates the activities of the Women of St. Francis. She enjoys helping plan the parish festivals - she describes herself as a girl who always loved carnivals.
Luis Velasco
Director of Religious Education
Bio: Luis is a native of La Paz, Bolivia. He has worked for St. Francis of Assisi for more than 30 years. He's dedicated to serving the youth. Each year he prepares hundreds of children for First Communion and Confirmation in the Spanish-language programs and coordinates with the English-language programs.
